The Lair Jiu Jitsu
At The Lair, we don’t play Jiu Jitsu. This isn’t daycare and it’s not some novelty hobby. You won’t need to call anyone sensei, you won't need to call anyone professor, or need to bow thirty times every time you show up for class. What you will find is real training, real competition, and a whole lot of fun. Every class brings sweat, laughter, and growth.
From kids to adults, our mission is to show you that you’re capable of way more than you think. Jiu Jitsu here will test your limits, build your confidence, and carry over into every part of your life. You’ll leave tougher, sharper, and harder to kill.
If you want Jiu Jitsu that actually works, and an environment where you get to prove it to yourself, we believe The Lair is the place. Our Fundamentals and Kids classes lay the foundation without throwing you straight into the fire. When you’re ready to level up, our All Levels (adults) and Advanced (kids) programs will push you further, sharpen your skills, and give you a sense of confidence you may not have thought possible.
We also encourage you to check out other gyms in the area. Compare classes, prices, and vibes. We’re not like other gyms, and other gyms aren’t like us. The right fit matters, and we want you to end up training where you’ll find the most fulfillment. If that’s here at The Lair, we’ll welcome you with open arms and get straight to work.
“The class is Pain 101. Your instructor is Casey Jones Mike Flach.”

Not at all. There are many people who train jiu jitsu well into their 70s and 80s. There are even some who still train in their 90s. Our fundamentals program is a great place for everyone to start. You will learn the basic movements of Jiu Jitsu and perform exercises that will help your body move correctly for the sport. Anything that you are uncomfortable doing will be tailored to you so that you are always receiving some sort of benefit!

100% it is! It is our belief that Jiu Jitsu is the most beneficial form of self defense for women to learn. Jiu Jitsu can be an intimidating environment for anyone to walk into, especially women. It is our focus to provide an environment that is comfortable for everyone to walk into, whether it be their first class or their 100th class. At The Lair Jiu Jitsu you can look forward to being welcomed with open arms by our instructors and our students alike.

Nope! However, if there are students in class with poor hygiene it could affect others in class. For that reason, our mats are cleaned twice a day and instructors perform visual inspections on all students prior to class and during class. Just like with any physical activity, it is important to shower as soon after class as you can and to wash your hands before entering the mat and after leaving the mat.

Quite the contrary. Jiu Jitsu practitioners are some of the nicest people you will ever meet in your life. Jiu Jitsu is a great practice in growth and humility that keeps those who practice it in a lasting state of contentment. We’ve seen countless students over the years come in with lots of anger and very quickly become more mild mannered and polite. We believe Jiu Jitsu is one of the best practices for a healthy mental state!

It’s hard to narrow this down to a short statement because the benefits of Jiu Jitsu are endless. One of the top benefits that we see students gain from Jiu Jitsu is learning to stay calm in uncomfortable or non ideal situations. No matter how long you train for, there will always be someone who can put you into an uncomfortable position. The more experience you have, the calmer you will be and in turn, the more successful you will be at persevering through the uncomfortable situation. We love this one because it translates largely into all aspects of life.
